IHM refers to the Induction Heating Molding and is a new method of variable mold temperature. It makes use of the skin effect of electromagnetic induction, heating up the surface of cavity and core to a very high temperature in a very short time. Since this can keep the mold’s temperature higher than the Glass transition temperature during the filling process of injection molding, many difficulties derive from conventional injection molding can be easily solved. In addition, the mold’s temperature can be cooled down quickly after injection, thus making the productivity of IHM higher than those of other variable mold twmperature technologies(RHCM, E-Mold, etc.).
